My second venture into the world of Mesquite. This two drawer box shows off the interesting properties of this wood native the the southwest U.S. The slanted top was left natural showing the texture of the wood under the bark.
You can really get a feel for how different the density of the wood is as you go from the outer edge of the tree, at the top of the box, to the dark dense heartwood at the bottom.
This piece stands 8“ tall at the back and just under 7“ tall at the front. It is 4 7/8 “ wide and just over 5“ deep. The two drawers have a felt bottom.
