Cedar Lidded Box
My lovely wife stated that this lidded box looks like a macaroon, one of my daughters called it a spaceship. Whatever your perspective, this 7" wide by 2 1/2" tall piece turned from Cedar is lovely. Cedar is a beautiful wood and the grain is shown off nicely with an off-white oval among the reddish-brown common to this wood. A smooth satin finish rounds off it's features along with the typical Cedar aroma. I probably wouldn't want to put something like M&Ms in it as they may absorb some of the aromatic oils. Then again you may be in to that sort of thing or want to be on the leading edge of a new taste treat sensation. There is no accounting for some peoples taste. Lidded Box with InlayThis lidded box was turned from a piece of Honey Locust and shows off its beautiful grain all the way around. A narrow band of Lapis Lazuli inlay is near the bottom and the wood is finished with Beeswax giving it a satin finish. This piece stands 4 1/2" high and has a diameter of 3 1/4". What can you use if for? Well, my wife uses one lidded box at home for some of her jewelry, and one on her desk at work holding M&Ms. Its uses are only limited by your imagination and, I guess, whatever will fit in it.
